Like everyone, I was also not in a mood to work that day. It was very obvious because, it was raining heavily outside and the view from my cube was really mind blowing. Being tea time and having decided to take a break, (which was the only thing that I was doing since morning) I walked out of my ODC and down to the canteen – my favorite place. I ordered for maggi (the only food I eat when it is raining outside), paid for it and sat in a place where I could see the road below.
The view from my window in the ODC would comprise of the tall buildings, decorated building tops, dark gray clouds and the sky. But the place I sat that day gave me a view of the road sides. Due to the heavy rain since morning, water was flowing down the lane, like a small tributary to a river. Just outside the gates there were so many autos parked. There were a few auto drivers who were busy cleaning their autos with the water that was flowing down. But every now and then people used to walk out of office, speak to the auto drivers and get in and gone was the auto. The security people at the gates were busy checking the bags of the people who were leaving or entering office.
Something pricked my heart and I felt a bit uneasy there. I finished off the maggi and walked to my ODC. I started reviewing the document that I had made as a design reference for a new change requirement in my project. But still I could feel that I was very slow and sluggish at my work. Having decided not to leave office without doing something useful for that day, I opened a new document and started typing.
