Think and Innovate..

The need of the hour – Renewable energy.

We have been hearing this statement from our class six. It is more than a decade and this wave is still not down, but the necessity for the same has increased exponentially. Now belonging to the section of the society which can change things, I guess it is our responsibility to contribute something for the welfare of our mother nature.

We are on constant awareness programs insisting on renewable energy, saving water, flora and fauna etc. But do we take things seriously? How many of us switch of our desktops at the EOD? How many of us use less water while washing our mugs or make sure that the mug doesn’t dry up so that it would be easy for us to wash with less water? How many of us switch off the fans in the lifts? How many of us think before we print something?

Apart from taking these things to our heart and acting accordingly, we could do one more thing. We can take a step ahead and help the company to take initiatives in an innovative way. An idea cropped up in my mind recently. We have shredders to dispose critical or project specific confidential documents. Pretty sure, there is a lot of paper waste that is getting accumulated everyday. There are other bio-degradable materials which could be used for the same. Being in a company of 1.46+ Lakh employees, there is lot of Bio waste that is getting collected. Instead of accumulating them and disposing them at intervals, we could use them up in such a way, which will help us too. We could collect them in an underground sump or tank and use it for Bio-Mass plant. This could be used during weekends for lighting, when the power consumption is low. It is obvious that, we take pride belonging to our companies. Let the company also take pride of having us. We are the source of all innovation and we can use our thought process to help nature, by which we are actually helping ourselves..!

Root Causes..

I was walking out of office, that day. I had a bit of extra luggage – On Call Laptop, On Call Mobile and my new Photon+. My roommate, Priya had mailed me saying that she had forgotten her key and her mobile at home and will be waiting for me to leave office as she was very hungry. I had mailed her back saying that I would be leaving in 15 minutes, @ 7:45 PM. When I was about to leave, I was requested to give an update. When my work was done, it was 8:35 PM, and I had totally forgotten about my roommate.

Unusually, I started walking down the stairs than taking the lift, and just then near the ground floor I slipped a few stairs. I was unhurt by my new pair of sandals tore in the sides. I managed to walk with them all the way down the path. I submitted my Laptop pass to the security and walked up to the auto stand. Priya called me then, enquiring where I was. Realizing my fault, I promised to be there in sometime. As usual, none of the autos were ready to drop to my place which was actually close by. Making up my mind, I walked all the way to the bus stop which took me 15 minutes and my stomach had started growling in hunger. There I found a few autos and took a chance enquiring as I had no change except for a 100 rupee note. If I had tried taking a bus, the conductor would have kicked me out. Finally, I got into an auto to my place. Time was 9:05 PM.

When I got down, I gave the auto wala, the only note I had – 100 Rupee. I shook his head and said, “Chuta deejiye mam”. The amount on the meter was 16. I answered with a baffled reaction “Sorry bhaiya, Mere paas nahi hai”. He gave me a small smile, said “tk, nahi chahiye”, started the engine and left. I stood there dumbstruck..!

I walked up the flat and reached my apartment and saw a note signed by Priya, “Will be back soon”. I smiled to myself, opened the apartment, left my things in place and decided to get my sandals stitched. I reached the closest market area which was just a minute’s walk. Hoping to see a cobbler at that time, I was just keeping my fingers crossed. I found one soon and gave him my sandals for repairing. He said that the sole was a bit thick and stitching the entire sandal would cost 30. I felt that it was a bit costly. But not in a mood to bargain, I accepted it. Within a few minutes, my sandals were back in form. Satisfied with the repairing made I gave him “The 100 rupee note” I had. He gave back 80 and said that, it wasn’t that thick as he expected it to be. A thoughtful smile cropped up on my face..!

The root causes of present happenings are, a very long way back in our lives, than they are thought to be..!

My View..

I had been receiving a few mails in the last week which were about handling a situation. This article is a consolidated version of all those mails. Hope you enjoy..

All of us have heard about the 10/90 rule which says – You don’t have control on 10% of the things that are happening to you, but the remaining 90% depends on how you react to that 10%. For a situation, we can either respond or react. Reactions are instinctive and responses are intellectual. In between the stimuli (what happens to us) and the response (what happens through us), if there is no gap, it is a reaction. If there is a gap between the two, we could think and contemplate and respond thoughtfully, ending up in winning the situation. What disturbs us is not the traffic jam but our inability to handle the disturbance caused by the traffic jam.

Intellectual handling doesn’t mean that we have to be thoughtful about everything that is happening to us. If that is the case, we will miss all the fun in life. Actually, we will be missing the greatest fun, the Life itself. We are like prepaid cards and our validity has been already decided, while we were activated. We need to live life to the fullest of our souls as life is a one time present and we must know to extract the utmost fun out of it. Fun doesn’t mean that we could break the rules of living. Giving our 100% in anything, will always make us feel proud. But, this mustn’t be stressing up our living. We are not here to work our lives out and die in stress. Life is like a garden. We are surrounded by flowers, thorns, mud, grass, dew drops, stones and lot other constituents. It is in our hands to either enjoy or complain about the variety, because Change is the only thing that keeps us going. Without change, Living would have become uneventful or monotonous. Life is like a lemon and spoon game. It doesn’t make any sense, if we come first in the race without the lemon. Lemon here comprises of our family, health and the zeal to survive.

Trust..

“To be trusted is a greater compliment than being loved” - George MacDonald.

It is very true that, a smile is the way a relationship begins. But for the relationship to stand through tough times, pain and struggles, something more is needed: Trust. “You can always love the person whom you trust, but you can never love the person whom you don’t” – a simple but a very clear quote to establish the importance of believing your partner. Trust is the platform on which any relationship is built upon. Trust doesn’t mean being honest or not lying. It is the vibration that runs in our mind during an emotional situation. This vibration doesn’t subside even when we come to know that our partner is lying to us. But the situation would be handled with a smile on the lips and a new wave of love at heart. And a good thing is that, this vibration is very much inducible..!

Trust and be trust worthy..!

Celebrate your Uniqueness..

A plum once said, “Just because a banana lover came by, I converted myself into a banana. Unfortunately, his taste changed after a few months and so I became an orange. When he said I was bitter I became an apple, but he went in search of grapes. Yielding to the opinions of so many people, I have changed so many times that I no more know who I am. How I wish I had remained a plum and waited for a plum lover.”

Just because a group of people do not accept you as you are, there is no necessity for you to strip yourself of your originality. You need to think good of yourself, for the world takes you at your own estimate. Never stop down in order to gain recognition. Never let go of your true self to win a relationship. In the long run, you will regret that you traded your greatest glory - your uniqueness, for momentary validation. The group that does not accept you the way you are is not your world.

What water can do, gasoline cannot and what copper can, gold cannot. The fragility of the ant enables it to move and the rigidity of the tree enables it to stay rooted. Everything and everybody has been designed with a proportion of uniqueness to serve a purpose that we can fulfil only by being our unique self. You as you alone can serve your purpose and I as I alone can serve my purpose. You are here to be you.. just you.

There came a time when you were required on this planet and hence you were sent. Let us be the best we can be. Don't miss yourself and let the world not miss you. In the history of the universe, there has been nobody like you and to the infinite of time to come; there will be no one like you. Existence should have loved you so much that it broke the mould after making you, so that another of your kind will never get repeated.

You are rare..
You are a wonder..
You are the original..
You are a masterpiece.. Your Master's piece..

Celebrate your Uniqueness..!

It’s ok to have fears
It’s ok to make mistakes
It’s ok to Give up on something
It’s ok to be Quiet sometimes
It’s ok to Cry when everyone laughs
It’s ok to laugh at a joke if you liked it
It’s ok to love the one who may not love you
It’s ok if you dance like a duck gone wild
It’s ok if you sing like a frog gone wilder than the duck

If being what you are, makes you happy
Its Great TO BE YOURSELF!
