“Bye..!”
She cut the call and put the mobile aside.
Tears started rolling down her cheeks. She was hurt – very badly, deeply. That night, the fight was the most unexpected. All was fine till a few minutes back but ended up in a mishap. She wasn’t weeping, but tears were flowing down her cheeks like a river - Her heart was paining badly. She closed her eyes and lied down in her bed.
It had been more than three years since they had become such close friends – sharing every single thing that left in impression in their minds, being together during thick and thin, understanding each others positives, negatives, problems, likes, dislikes, needs, family, friends etc. The similarity in their thought process had made it very easy for them to have become very close within very few days of contact. They had known each other for more than 15 years as a neighbour, a person belonging to the next class, a batch mate and a competitor. They had always considered each other as rivalries, be any matter for that reason.
One fine day she had found him to be closer than her closest friends. He had come from no where and had become the most necessary part of her life’s schedule. The same must have been his feeling also; she found it all in the flow of time. There had been many fights and many sleepless nights after the fights. Similarly there were many sorry statements, many sweet lies, many blank messages or calls carrying the after effect of the fights to a state of nothing. The consequences of the fight had always made them feel that fights do bring hearts closer. The current mishap could be just another one, she felt. She desperately wanted it to be a passing cloud.
She couldn’t stop herself from calling him. She located his number from her recent call list and was about to call him, when there was an incoming call from him. She immediately attended it but was not sure whether it was a continuation of the previous call or was a “put an end to the fight” call.
“Sorry for calling in such a weird time.” He said. She looked into the clock. It had been more than two hours since she had fought with him. Lost in his thoughts, she had lost track of the time.
“It’s ok. I wasn’t sleeping. To be precise, I was about to call you.” She said.
There was pin drop silence for few seconds. “I’m sorry”, they said in one tone.
A heartfelt smile cropped upon her face. She was sure that he was also feeling light by then..!
